Highcliffe School are looking to recruit a new co-opted member of the Governing Board, following the decision of a long-serving member of the Board to step down to focus on their work and other voluntary commitments. Co-opted Governors are appointed directly by the Board in order to secure specialist areas of knowledge and expertise considered helpful to the school. The school is seeking someone with any of the following areas of expertise: a financial, commercial, or building management background.
The person who may be interested in this post does not need to have to have a child at the school. They may be a parent/carer, or another adult family member, or you may pass this information on to a neighbour or work colleague.
Governors are appointed for a 4-year term. Full training and support is provided. Our governing body is a highly professional but also warm, welcoming and supportive group of volunteers committed to helping the school community thrive.
Governors typically attend up to 6 2-hour long evening meetings a year. They also complete a 2-hour visit during a school day 2-3 times a year as a Link Governor with oversight of a key aspect of the school, to reflect their interests. They are encouraged to attend some key school events – such as the bi-annual school production, annual Open Evening, or Christmas or Summer concerts. There is a programme of online training sessions that Governors are expected to complete.
