This morning, bucking media reports of a national decline in overall results with the move back to formal exams, I am delighted to join Highcliffe colleagues and students celebrating extremely good A Level results.
Despite the reported national decline, the average grade achieved by Highcliffe students remained very high and 36% of all grades were the top A*/A grades – which our analysis already confirms are excellent results from our ability range of students compared to similar students nationally.
Consequently, despite all the pressure on university places, it’s a bumper year for Highcliffe student admissions to Oxford and Cambridge, the medical schools and the other top universities. Other examples include students heading off supported by scholarships to train as superyacht captains or as athletes in Canada, whilst others are heading off to train as illustrators, scientists, economists, or chiropractors; and so much more.
The atmosphere among students this morning was truly inspirational.
Congratulations to our students and my wonderful Sixth Form teaching and pastoral team for together making today’s success possible after Covid’s two years of unprecedented disruption to education.
