Mrs Chapman wins Lockdown Lifeline Award

Congratulations to science teacher, Mrs Chapman, who has won an award at University of Bath Teachers' Awards.

One of our amazing science teachers Mrs. Chapman has won the ‘Lockdown Lifeline Award’ at the University of Bath Teachers' Awards 2021 after one of our Sixth Form students, Lucy nominated her for her support during lockdown.  Bath University awards recognise and celebrate teachers who have gone above and beyond to support students, guiding them on their path to university, inspiring them to aim high, offering pastoral care to support their well-being and of course nurturing their talents by providing them with exceptional learning opportunities.

Lucy wrote in her nomination “I have never been taught by a teacher so dedicated to her students' academic careers, but equally compassionate and sensitive towards their emotional welfare. She uses her own passion for chemistry to instill insatiable excitement and curiosity within all her students. Mrs. Chapman encourages us to question our knowledge, subtly shepherding us towards the appropriate conclusions. This method of teaching has helped every member of my class mature academically; it has also made the transition to undergraduate study seem less daunting. Mrs. Chapman went above and beyond to ensure every member of my yr12 A Level chemistry class was supported during the lockdown period… her innovative and determined attitude during lockdown ensured we are on top of all A Level content. I would really like Mrs. Chapman’s phenomenal dedication and genuine compassion towards all her students to be formally recognised.”

Bath University said "We received a great number of outstanding nominations this year and selecting a shortlist from these has been such a difficult task for our judging panel. Your nomination is one of three that have been shortlisted for the Lockdown Lifeline Award. This award is for providing exceptional support to students, both academically and emotionally, throughout the COVID crisis. Congratulations once again, not just for being nominated, but for all the extraordinary work you do. We really looking forward to celebrating with you."

 Well done Mrs. Chapman!
