Phillips Sisters at the World Martial Arts Games

Sisters from Highcliffe once again take home gold medals at the World Martial Arts Games

Huge well done to sisters Jasmine and Talia Phillips on their recent success in Kata at the World Martial Arts Games held at the end of October in London.

Athletes from all over the globe ascended to contest the 12th World Martial Arts Games. Teams from the USA, Colombia, Mexico, India and many more battled it out along with Great Britain.   Day one saw Talia Phillips win 14/15 Kata Bronze Medal beating Germany’s Sarah Lorenze in a tense play off with Maggie Jones (USA) taking Gold. More Bronze followed as Talia along with Patchouli and Jasmine took Team Kata Bronze.

On the 3rd day of competing, Talia won Gold in the 14-15 Kumite fighting. The Gold rush continued as almost simultaneously on another mat Jasmine Phillips won her hotly contested Kumite Under-18 Black Belt fighting final against talented U.S fighter Allahasia Muhammad by 6 points to 4.
